For this week, you will be choosing one communication event (i.e. a post, video, written comment, etc.) from your community and answering some questions about it. This is not an essay assignment, so these answers can be listed.
For more information about the Weekly Writing assignments, see the Weekly Writing Overview page.
Pick one message/communication from your community. This could be a video post, a written post, a comment/reply, or something else.
Link to the post (public communities only) OR screenshot the post/comment/etc. Double-check that your link works before turning in the assignment. To link to your community, just copy and paste the URL from your browser into the document.
For any screenshots, blur out/black out all identifying information from the post (such as the person's user name/name and photo).
This is especially important for closed/private communities, such as a Discord server or a private Facebook group.
Please check the group's rules about screenshots also. If you should not take a screenshot based on group rules, you can either ask permission or copy and paste the text from a post or comment.
Save / paste the screenshot or link into your Weekly Writing 4 document.
Answer the following questions below the screenshot:
NOTE: This week, these questions and replies can be written in list form. (You do not need to write this as an essay.)
What community is this from? (For example, "This linked video from the BookTok community.")
What is the message/post about?
What do you think the purpose of this message/post is?
Who do you think the primary audience is for this post? (for example, even for public posts, the creator tends to assume for or plan for a specific audience) What about the post makes you think that is the primary audience?
Is this post/message a typical type of communication in your community?
Does the post/message use any language that is (or might be) specific to this community? If so, what?
Did others interact with the post/message?
If so, how many people interacted? How did people interact with this message?
For example: 493 people liked this post, and 283 commented on this post.
