Tech-free Writing (TFW) sessions will be time during class to work on writing skills, developing ideas, drafting, revisions, etc. without the use and distraction of technology. We will be doing plenty of writing with technology in this class, also, but it's important to also learn how to slow down and think deeply about stuff, so we will dedicate time to this during class.
For TFW sessions, you will be given a notebook/journal to use. That journal will be turned back into me at the end of the TWF session, and I will hold on to these journals from week to week.
See the Calendar to see which class periods will have a TFW session.
You will be graded on thoughtful and full participation for TFW days. Your grade will be determined once all all TFW days are done for the semester (around Week 14).
A: Missed no more than one TFW session*. Participated fully in writing sessions. Work shows thoughtful engagement and effort.
B: Missed two or more sessions*. Participated fully in writing sessions. Work shows thoughtful engagement and effort.
C: Missed two or more sessions*. Mostly participated in writing sessions but work does not always show thoughtful engagement and effort.
D: Frequently absent, left sessions early, or arrived late. Participation and effort were inconsistent.
E: Frequently absent, left sessions early, and/ or arrived late. Participation was minimal, writing/work shows little effort and little thoughtful engagement with the ideas and focus of that session.
* One TFW session can be missed to account for illness/life/etc. One additional TFW session can be made up in-class on the TWF Make-up Day (see the calendar for the date
